The Challenge: Completing Repairs and Markings Overnight
The hospital’s external areas had faded parking lines, worn pedestrian markings and localised surface defects.
Our team needed to complete the pothole repairs and marking works within one overnight programme. This required coordination between the repair and line marking stages, with attention to the different parking, walking and vehicle routes across the site.

Hospital Pothole Repairs
Coast & Counties carried out localised pothole repairs to address damaged areas of the existing surfacing. These repairs formed part of the wider maintenance project, tackling surface defects alongside the renewal of the hospital’s parking and road markings.
Car Park Line Marking and Accessible Bays
The line marking works renewed the parking layout, including blue accessible parking bays with white wheelchair symbols and yellow hatched areas.
White bay lines defined the surrounding parking spaces. The finished photographs show a clear change from the faded existing markings to a distinct, visible layout.
Pedestrian Walkways and Crossing Markings
Green pedestrian routes with white walking symbols distinguished the designated walking areas from vehicle routes. Crossing markings completed the pedestrian elements of the scheme, making the intended routes easier to identify around the hospital frontage.
Access Road and Traffic Markings
Our team also completed road markings to guide drivers through the site. The finished scheme included:
- Directional arrows and lane lines.
- Car park, exit and drop-off instructions.
- STOP and SLOW lettering.
- 5 MPH speed reminders.
- Red boundary lines and hatched areas.

Together, these features clarified the intended movement of vehicles and pedestrians through the external areas.
