Several areas had deteriorated through continual traffic loading, creating potholes, surface deformation and localised settlement. Outside the Stamford Bridge Hotel, sections of block paving had become uneven, creating trip hazards and reducing accessibility. Drainage improvements were also required to better manage surface water in busy operational areas. As the site remains active throughout the day, works had to be carefully phased and completed efficiently.
The existing failed surfacing was cut out and prepared before new asphalt repairs were installed and compacted to specification. Heavy-duty ACO channels were fitted to improve drainage performance and reduce future water-related deterioration. Sunken block paving was lifted, the sub-base corrected and the paving reinstated to create a level, safe surface. Finally, the site received crisp thermoplastic road markings, including bespoke blue markings designed to complement the club's visual identity.

The completed works significantly improved safety, drainage and appearance while providing a durable surface suitable for continuous pedestrian and service vehicle use.
