The works were undertaken under strict security procedures with oversight from The Crown Estate, demonstrating our ability to deliver premium surfacing solutions within high-security environments.

Project Summary

  • Service: Surface Dressing
  • Location: 8 Kensington Palace Gardens, London
  • Client: High-End Private Residential Estate
  • Materials: Surfix S80 Binder & Premium Blue Granite Chippings
  • Project Size: Approximately 200m²
  • Duration: 2 Days

The Problem

The existing tarmac surface had become worn through age and regular vehicle use. In the setting of Kensington Palace Gardens, where luxury vehicles often manoeuvre on narrow, tree-lined private roads, enhanced skid resistance is critical for maintaining safety during London’s frequent wet weather and sudden braking situations.

Improving this property not only reduces the risk of skidding incidents that could compromise the security and tranquillity of this high-profile Crown Estate-managed area but also ensures reliable traction for high-performance cars common to the neighbourhood.

The Work Completed

The project began with mechanical sweeping, localised pothole repairs and full surface preparation. Coast & Counties then applied Surfix S80 polymer-modified binder before laying premium blue granite chippings. Strict traffic management and comprehensive security checks were maintained throughout the works under the oversight of The Crown Estate. The entire project was completed within two days.

Materials Used

Surfix S80 polymer-modified binder, premium blue granite chippings, mechanical sweeping equipment and specialist surface dressing machinery were selected to provide a durable, attractive and long-lasting finish.

Project Outcome

The completed surface significantly enhanced the appearance of the estate road while restoring surface texture and extending the life of the existing carriageway. The works were completed safely, efficiently and to the satisfaction of the client and The Crown Estate representatives.
